Spoken Stillness

The space in between words

and in between breath

The sweet subtle pause

intended for rest

The place that is often

subject to neglect

The appearance of emptiness

causes you to forget

The power of

silence

the importance of

stillness

the balance of

life

in all of its brilliance

If you focus only

on action

it will work, for a little

to cause satisfaction

Momentum gains, building

traction for distraction

Until eventually you

begin to notice the impact on

The parts of yourself

buried deep

the parts of yourself

forced into hiding

the parts of yourself

you keep

secret, with no on

to confide in

Over time

you master playing pretend

You lock up your shame

and lie to you friends

A dangerous habit

only applied effort can end

You remember the space

and now choose to attend

Take a seat,

close your eyes

allow yourself

to realize

In these moments of stillness

you acquaint

in these moments of silence

you listen as the faint

voice of your heart

speaks its truth

you become witness

to the real

essence

of you
